type='text'>Quit Smoking With Exercise

When you decide to stop smoking, you'll bring on
other changes in your life as well. Smoking is a
very addictive habit, meaning that it is very hard
to quit. There are a lot of changes that take place,
although exercise can be a big help to you when you
decide to quit.

Try to set a new routine, such as working out or
going to the gym. If that isn't possible, you
should try waking up earlier and going for a short
walk. If you can turn that walk into a run or a
jog, it is going to be very stimulating and the best
way that you can start your day.

Keep in mind that exercise doesn't really mean
pumping metal. If you don't have the time to stop
by the gym every day, then it isn't really that big
of a problem, as you can always choose to workout
at home.

Whether you choose to workout at home or at a gym,
you should always remember that regularity is the
key. It isn't getting started that's the difficult
part, it's sticking to a regular exercise program
that is difficult and proves to be stumbling block
for most people.

Some people have a great start. They will buy
track suits, gym wear, running shoes, and a lot
of other gear, so their first day at the gym is
almost like a celebration. As the days go by,
they find it very difficult to meet the demands
and their routine will slow down a lot and finally
come to a complete exercise burnout.

One mistake that several people make is choosing
the evenings to exercise. If evenings fit your
lifestyle, then it's fine. For most people however,
the evening hours are when they are completely
pooped. By the evening most of us are drained,
and simply too tired for exercise. Therefore, it
is always best to set some time aside for exercise
in the morning.

In the morning, wake up a half an hour or so
earlier, put on your shoes, and hit the road. Most
roads are less crowded in the morning and less
polluted as well, making it a wonderful and relaxing
way to start the day.

You should also steer clear from the coffee and try
tea instead. If you are moving around in the house,
try playing music. You can also redecorate your
room by adding a few pictures around. When you
redecorate, you should get rid of everything
that reminds you of smoking.

Plan your day where you'll have something fun to
do at the end of the day. It doesn't need to be
something that involves money, as you don't want
to end up bankrupt. Spending time with family,
playing games, or going for a walk with your
family are all good activities.

Watching television doesn't really fit into the
list. The reason is because television isn't
something that demands a lot of attention. You
can easily do something else while you are
watching television.

You should also make a list of things that build
up your stress and try to avoid them. If it
isn't possible, you should try to find out some
some ways to bust stress and use them. Whatever
you do, you shouldn't use stress as an excuse
to start smoking.

There are many other methods that you can use to
beat stress. You can try breathing exercises,
mediation, or even music. Another great way to
beat stress is using the distressing ball. If
you don't have one or access to one, you can
always wiggle your fingers and toes. This too
is a great and natural method to beat stress.

Making Exercise More Fun

Nothing beats waking up in the morning with the thought
of going to the gym to lift weights or jog on the
treadmill. After a hard days work, the gym is one
place you don't even want to think about. Sometimes,
even the thought of exercising at home with your own
equipment can be less than desirable.

Sometimes, just trying to get and stay motivated to
exercise on a regular basis can be a challenge. No
matter how you look at it, exercise can be downright
boring and even tedious at times.

So, you may be wondering just how you can get the
motivation you need to exercise on a regular basis.
If you've been wondering what you can do to make
exercise more fun, you'll find some ideas below that
just may help to make exercise more fun and a little
bit easier.

First things first, you should exercise with a friend.
You can challenge each other, help each other out,
keep each other motivated and on track, make each
other laugh or just make a game out of your exercise
programs.

You can also try something different. If you go
to the gym each and every day and use the same
piece of equipment or use the same piece of
equipment at home, you should try mixing things up.
Reverse your routine or just change the order of
your exercises.

Go to a city park that has playground equipment and
use the slide, climb on the monkey bars, do pull-
ups, hang from your knees, just let your imagination
guide you. You don't always need to follow a strict
routine, just get out there and have fun working
your muscles.

An outdoor circuit in the park is also something
you can try. There are some parks that have circuit
courses set up with a planned course where all
you have to do is walk or jog to each station and
then follow the instructions. If there isn't a
planned course, then you should do a combination
of jogging and walking, picking a distance of a
couple hundred feet. Jog 100 feet then drop and
do a couple of pushups, walk the next 100 feet
and then drop to do sit ups.

You can also ride a bike around your neighborhood
or hike on a hiking trail. A walk in the park or
around your neighborhood is also a great way to
get some exercise. Doing yoga in the park or on
a beach is also a nice and relaxing way to
exercise both your body and your mind.

Playing a competitive sport is also something you
can try. A lot of cities have team activities
such as softball, volleyball, tennis, soccer,
and so on. These types of activities will not
only provide you with good exercise but they will
also help you to meet new people as well.

When you exercise, try to picture your muscles
getting bigger. Research has shown that if you
focus all of your thoughts on the muscles that
you are working, they will respond better. Try
to watch them work with each repetition as your
muscles contract and relax.

As you can tell, there are plenty of ways you can
make exercise more fun and interesting. You don't
need to follow the same routine day after day,
as you can do many other things to get in some
exercise.

The important thing is that you should always try
to incorporate exercise in any various form into
your everyday life and make these habits the kind
of habits that will last a lifetime.

Exercising During Pregnancy

Everyone knows that exercise is very good for your
health. During pregnancy, exercise can have many
other benefits as well. Normally, exercise should
be light, especially during your first few weeks
of pregnancy while your body adjusts to the changes.

Any type of heavy exercise can divert the blood
flow from crucial areas, and most women that exercise
on a regular basis should tone down their workout
regimen during pregnancy.

Swimming, walking, and yoga are two very popular
exercise activities that are suitable for pregnant
women. There are other forms of exercise such as
weight lifting that are acceptable as long as it
isn't too strenuous. Most specialists recommend
exercise 3 - 4 times a week, unless you have a
medical condition that prevents it. If you are ever
in doubt, you should consult a physician first.

Below, you'll find some of the best reasons as to
why you should exercise during pregnancy.
1. Exercise can help to reduce the length
of labor and recovery time. The right exercise
routines will also increase stamina that is needed
for delivery.
2. Improved mental health. Exercise can
lower stress and improve your emotional health,
making it easier for you to get through the
new experience of becoming a mother.
3. Exercise can also help with weight
management after the child has been born. A common
concern with most mothers is the weight they lose
after pregnancy. During pregnancy, exercise can
make postpartum weight loss easier.
4. Exercise is very good for your unborn
baby. By keeping your body healthy, you are also
looking out for your baby as well.
5. Exercise can help reduce the side effects
of pregnancy. Symptoms such as fatigue, headaches,
swelling, and constipation are all common with
pregnant women. Studies have shown exercise to
reduce the occurrence of these symptoms.
6. Exercise can also decrease the risk
of premature birth. Exercise has been proven to
decrease the risk of premature birth by at least
50%.

You should always make sure that you drink plenty
of fluids before you exercise, follow a nutritious
diet, and avoid over exertion. You should also
listen to your body, and if you start feeling
sick you should immediately stop and rest.

If you exercise during your pregnancy, you'll find
it a lot easier to deliver when the time comes.
Exercise will help your body strengthen up, which
will make it very easy on you when you go into
the delivery room. Women who don't exercise find
it much harder when the time comes to give birth.

Exercising during pregnancy is one of the best
things you can do for yourself and for your unborn
baby. Your baby will reap some of the benefits,
which is reason enough to exercise. Always be
safe when you exercise, and don't hesitate to ask
a doctor for advice if you have any questions at
all. As long as you exercise safe and use good
common sense, you'll do a world of good for
your pregnancy.

Exercise Balls

Exercise balls are one of the most innovative ways
to exercise. These little balls will catch every
one's fancy due to their shape and very attractive
colors. The real benefit of these balls, which
were introduced by a group of Swiss medical therapists,
is a substitute of support during exercise.

Working out with the exercise balls will strengthen
and tone all of the major muscles of the body. The
soft texture of the balls make it an ideal choice
for Yoga positions, using dumbbells for muscle
toning, or working on heavy duty weight training
equipment.

The advantage of exercise balls is that they are
durable and maintain shape well under pressure. The
documentation with the balls will provide test
load figures for how much weight the exercise balls
will hold. The advantage here is the fact that the
balls provide soft yet firm support that doesn't
harm your body.

You can find exercise balls in several different
colors and finishes. You can even get a ball that
matches the texture of your room. They are simple
to store and you can even roll them under your bed
or a table if you prefer. When you aren't using
them, you can let kids play with them. These balls
are very fun for kids, as they are very soft and
won't cause them any harm.

Medical equipment
Originally developed for use in medical therapy,
the exercise ball is used to support the body
during exercise. These balls will provide support
to the body when you do a specific exercise in a
specific position and still need to maintain the
balance. Most exercise balls are made of burst
proof latex or other material that is very safe to
use.

There are many postures with yoga and muscle toning
exercise that can only be done with the help of
support. For these postures, exercise balls are
quite useful. The exercise balls will introduce an
element of stability to the exercise that you
wouldn't normally get with the floor exercise.

Your body responds automatically to the instability
to keep balanced on the exercise ball. This will
help in strengthening the muscles that aren't
actively participating in exercise.

An exercise is also very useful for physiotherapy
treatment. Exercise balls will help to get rid
of backache and spinal disorders. The small
range of movement and adjustment of balance of
the spine that is induced by exercising with the
exercise ball will help reduce back pain.

The Swiss ball exercise is for people with back
pain to provide them with a simple way to restore
movements after an episode of back pain. It also
results in improved muscle strength, greater
flexibility, and a wide range of motion of the
spine during treatment.

Exercise And Sleeping Better

The amount of physical exercise that you exert during
the day is one of the key ingredients to helping you
get a good sleep at night. The more active your
body is during the day, the more likely you are to
relax at night and fall asleep faster.

With regular exercise you'll notice that your quality
of sleep is improved and the transition between the
cycles and phases of sleep will become smoother and
more regular. By keeping up your physical activity
during the day, you may find it easier to deal with
the stress and worries of your life.

Research and studies indicate that there is a direct
correlation between how much we exercise and how
we feel afterwards.

You should try and increase your physical activity
during the day. The goal here is to give your body
enough stimulation during the day so that you aren't
full of energy at night.

Your body requires a certain amount of physical
activity in order to keep functioning in a healthy
manner. It is also important to note that you should
not be exercising three or four hours before you go
to bed.

The ideal exercise time is in the late afternoon or
early evening. You want to make sure you expend
your physical energy long before it is time for
your body to rest and ready itself for sleep.

You should attempt to exercise at least three or
four times a week for a period of 30 minutes or so.
You can include walking or something simple. If
you prefer, you can include strenuous activities
such as running as well.

The goal here is to increase your heart rate and
strengthen the capacity of your lungs. By adding
a regular exercise activity to your daily schedule
will help you to improve your overall health and
help you emotionally as well.

Along with running and walking there are several
other physical activities that you can add to your
daily life to increase your level of physical
activity. If you are battling not sleeping, you'll
find aerobic exercise to be the best.

Your goal with exercise is to increase the amount
of oxygen that reaches your blood stream. Overall,
there are many types of aerobic exercise for you
to choose from. The activities include running,
biking, using a treadmill, dancing, and jumping
rope.

There are some non aerobic exercises that you may
find beneficial to help you solve your amnesia
problem.

Yoga
Yoga is an exercise that has a stimulatory effect
on your nervous system, especially the brain. Yoga
utilizes breathing techniques and yoga postures to
increase the blood circulation to the brain, promoting
regular and restful sleeping patterns. The regular
practice of yoga will help you to relax as well
as relieve tension and stress.

Tai Chi
Tai Chi is an ancient art of breathing and movement
that was developed by the Chinese monks. The
movements involved are slow and precise, which is
ideal if you have joint pains or you are unable
to participate in high aerobic exercises. Research
has shown that Tai Chi can help with insomnia by
promoting relaxation.

If you discover that you don't have any time to
exercise on a regular basis, you should try to
sneak moments of activity into your schedule.
Whenever possible, you should take the stairs instead
of the elevator, as little things like that will
do wonders for your body.

You should also park your car around the corner and
walk that extra block or two to get to your
destination. As you may know, there are many small
things you can add to increase the activity in
your life. Your overall goal here is to have a
healthy and well balanced life - with plenty of
sleep.

Exercise And Your Complexion

As we all know and hear all the time, exercise can
do a body good. It can help you to stay trim, tone
muscles, and help to boost energy as well. What
you probably don't know, is the fact that exercise
can actually help you achieve the complexion that
you've always wanted.

It's true that regular exercise will nourish the
skin all over the body with fresh blood, oxygen, and
nutrients. As well, the increased blood flow and
circulation that come with working out will help
to draw toxins out of the body and improve the
condition of all your vital organs, including the
epidermis.

A lot of people think that sweat can trigger acne
flare ups. The fact is, sweating is great for any
type of congested skin, as it helps promote the
flushing of impurities from the epidermal layer and
will clean out the pores. As well, vigorous
exercise can actually correct the hormonal imbalances
that can trigger blemishes, therefore reducing the
likelihood of outbreaks.

Any physical routine that you like to do, such as
yoga, running, biking, spinning, pilates, boxing,
and such, will help to lessen the stress that you
encounter on a daily basis and help to prevent
stress related acne.

Keep in mind that exercise may not be a miracle
cure for everything, as you may still experience
breakouts from time to time although your acne
will certainly be less severe and last for a much
shorter time frame.

Exercise is also great for other skin conditions
that may or may not have to do with the presence of
acne. Your skin losing its elasticity or becoming
thin and less resilient is something that we all
encounter. This is a common problem for may of
us as we get older.

As we all get older, we start to lose collagen,
which will make us look tired. As many of us
don't know, physical activity can actually help to
promote the growth of collagen in your skin cells,
which will plump up your facial skin and make
you look younger and more vibrant.

If you are worried about wrinkles, you should
consider relaxation that comes after you exercise.
This has the effect of making your muscles, facial
muscles included, soften up. What this means,
is that your lines will appear less pronounced,
helping to contribute to the youthful look that
you are trying to achieve.

With exercise you can achieve a smaller waist,
better muscle tone, softer skin, fewer blemishes,
and an overall younger, more fresher look. If
you've wanted to add or change to your complexion,
you shouldn't hesitate to exercise. Exercise
will help you feel more alive as well as improve
your body. All you need to do is take a little
bit of time out of your schedule to exercise -
its as simple as that.

Exercise And Stress

Even though exercise may not be the most exciting
word in your vocabulary, it sure is a word with a
lot of benefits. Participating in daily exercise
will not only make you healthier in general, but
it can also diminish the effects of stress on your
body as well.

Think about all the times you have heard someone
say "the doctor says it's stress related". Normally
people will laugh it off, concluding that doctors
say that when they don't know the real answers or
diagnosis. The truth of the matter is that too
much stress will play a role in many diseases.

To help increase your immune system and decrease
your stress level as well, try exercise, as movement
is the key word here. Bending, stretching, reaching
and walking. There's really no need to buy any
expensive equipment either, as you can implement
more movement into your daily routine and reap
the benefits.

If you like aerobic exercise, you should grab a
partner and have a blast with one of the basic
aerobic videos. Or, you can simply go out for a
walk and enjoy spending time together. As you
may have heard, walking really is the best overall
exercise you can do for your health. As long as
you have a pair of walking shoes, you'll be
fine.

As you go through your daily activities, make it
a point to walk a little farther, bend down and
pick something up without using a pick up stick
or moving the item towards you with your foot.
While you are sitting, you should also do some
simple and quick stretches for your neck and
shoulders.

If you enjoy sitting around watching television,
you should consider buying a jogging board.
These padded boards will make running, jumping,
or walking in place less stressful on your knees
and joints. They are easy to store as well and
also very portable.

In many people's opinions, jogging boards are
the best pieces of equipment you can buy. They
are also far cheaper than bulky treadmills and
stationary bikes.

There are several different exercises that you
can do to help you eliminate the stress in
your life. Walking is by far the best, as you
can easily lose yourself and your troubles by
walking. Even if it is just around the block,
walking can do wonders for your health as well
as stress.

If you have a lot of stress in your life, you
may want to consider a gym. Working out then
sitting in the sauna is also a good way to
relieve tension. If your gym has a pool, you
may find swimming to be very beneficial as well,
as it helps you to relax.

Exercise Back Pain Away

According to past research and studies, nearly 80%
of all Americans will experience some type of back
pain in their lives. The American Academy of
Orthopedic Surgeons believes this as well, as they
say 80% of us out there will encounter some type of
problem with our back before we die.

Traditionally, the treatment for lower back pain is
increasing core strength to increase flexibility on
muscles that are tight, which will provide better
stabilization of the spine and exercises to correct
the imbalances of the muscles. The muscles that
surround the spine will provide stability and support
of the spinal column.

Every muscle between the hips and shoulders are
included as well, as these muscles are referred to
as the core muscles. Back pain can be a result of
muscle imbalances caused by any of these core
muscles. If the back of your thighs are weaker than
the front of your thighs, there will be an uneven
pull on the front of your spinal column.

There are some effective ways that you can integrate
core strength training exercises into all of the
exercises you perform, rather than doing just the
traditional crunches and sit-ups. One such way
is by breathing effectively. Deep breathing will
utilize your diaphragm muscles which will help
support the spinal column and lengthen the spine,
which is great for your lower back and supporting
you when you walk or run.

The tummy tuck and bridge lift can also help you
to reduce back pain and strengthen the core
muscles as well. The tummy tuck exercise is a
simple pelvic tilt that draws the abdominal muscles
away from the floor. Do perform a tummy tuck,
simply lie face down on the floor and squeeze
your glutes to strengthen your spine.

Instead of pressing into your thighs, you should
instead reach your tailbone down towards your
heels. Perform 15 reps of each exercise and
alternate them until you have completed a couple
of sets.

For the bridge, place your feet on a bench or
on the floor and scoop your pelvis upward, as your
rib cage should stay low to reduce any irritation
to your spinal muscles. The bridge will help to
relieve stress on your back and focus the muscle
contractions into the glutes and the hamstrings.

Other exercises for lower back pain are the lumbar
side stretch, hip flexor stretch, and calf
stretches, as all three can help to alleviate
pull on your spinal column.

Hip flexor stretch
When doing a hip flexor stretch, bring one foot
forward in a bent knee, 90 degree angle, while your
other leg is on the floor behind you with your
foot pointed upwards toward the ceiling. The
hip flexor stretch will help to open up the
muscles of your back on the side of the spine near
your hips. You can also squeeze your glutes as
well to deepen the stretch with each breath you
exhale. You should begin to feel a stretch in your
back leg, in the thigh front and the hamstrings
on your front leg.

Lumbar side stretch
This stretch will bring your legs wide with your
knees bent while you sit or stand. Simply bring
one hand down towards your foot on the inside of
the thighs and your other hand behind your head.

The last stretch will open up your Achilles tendon,
which is the most distant pull on the spine. For
this, place an object under your foot and lean the
weight of your body forwards. Maintain a fluid
breath while you hold stretches for 30 seconds or
so. After a while, you should begin to feel a
stretch behind your knee and shin.

Exercise And Asthma

If you suffer from asthma, you probably think that you
can't exercise properly or safely. Contrary to what
many think of this subject, there are ways that you
can get in shape and exercise, even if you suffer
from asthma.

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that is marked by
characteristics such as coughing, wheezing, shortness
of breath, and chest tightness. Asthma tends to occur
with people who are genetically or environmentally
presdisposed to the condition.

Some of the triggers that may start or make an attack
worse include exposure to allergens, viral respiratory
infections, airway irritants, exercise, and exposure
to things such as dust mites or cockroaches.

You can prevent asthma attacks by doing the following:
1. Bathe your pets weekly.
2. Don't smoke or permit smoking in your
home.
3. When mold or pollent counts are high,
you should stay inside with air conditioning.
4. Wash your bedding and any stuffed toys
at least once per week in hot water.
5. Wash your hands every chance you get.
6. Get a flu shot.
7. Wear a scarf over your mouth and nose in
the winter months.
8. Be proactive and know your triggers and
how you should avoid them.

Now that you know what you know about asthma, you
may be wondering where exercise fits in. As most
doctors will tell you, you shouldn't give up on
sports or exercise at all. You just have to be
smart about how you play and take special pre
cautions to avoid attacks.

Almost all doctors agree that the best way to
prevent attacks during exercise is to keep your
inhaler and medication close by. You should never
use the inhaler more than 3 times during a game
or exercise session. If you are up the previous
night with coughing and wheezing, it's always best
to go light with your exercise the next day.

For something known as IEA (Exercise Induced Asthma),
the symptoms are somewhat different, in the fact
that they appear after 6 - 10 minutes of exercise
and will often be worse in cold or dry air.

If you have IEA, there are several activities that
you can enjoy such as swimming, walking, biking,
downhill skiing, and team based sports. There are
many activities for you to choose from, to ensure
you get the exercise you need as well.

Keep in mind that the condition of asthma isn't
"all in your head", it is a real physiological
medical treatment that will require treatment to
prevent and treat. Even though your doctor will
be your best friend in treating asthma, you are
the one who can prevent your symptoms.

Always be smart, take your medication, and be
proactive. Don't let it put you in a life of
misery - as you can enjoy exercise just like
everyone else.

Buying An All In One System

These days, more and more people are turning away
from memberships to gyms and instead choosing to
invest money in a home gym. You can put a home
gym in a spare corner of your home, or even in the
basement if you wish. Along with helping you save
money by combining several different types of
equipment into one machine, these types of equipment
can easily fit in small spaces and type up a lot
less weight than their individual counterparts.

When you are considering to buy an all in one piece
of exercise equipment, you should first think
about your goals. You should consider what you
hope to achieve from exercising and just how well
this piece of equipment will benefit you.

There are several types of all in one equipment for
exercise on the market and almost all of them are
advertised well on television, in magazines, and
on the internet. The most popular types on the
market are those types that are geared towards
individuals who are interested in lifting weights.

Right now, the two most popular types of all in
one exercise systems are the Bowflex and Total Gym
brands. The Bowflex system uses resistant bows
that bend instead of the traditional weights that
simply lift. Bowflex is designed to fit a wide
variety of budgets and needs, it's widely
adaptable and extremely popular as well.

To make things even better, you can store the
basic Bowflex system in small and tight places,
even under a bed if you choose. The larger and
more expensive Blowflex system competes with
the types of professional equipment that you can
find in gyms, which allow you a quality workout
on quality equipment.

The Total Gym system is great as well, as it
is advertised by martial arts legend Chuck Norris
and supermodel Christie Brinkley. It is less
expensive than the Bowflex and uses gravity
and resistance instead of traditional weights.
By using this system, you have the ability to
adapt the machine to a wide variety of exercises
that will work many different areas of your body.

When you make that decision about buying an all
in one exercise system, you must also decide
on price, features, brand, and just who will use
the machine. If your family plans to use it as
well, then you'll need to get a system that
everyone will agree on. You obviously wouldn't
want a machine that is too complicated for
others in your home.

Even though Bowflex and Total Gym are the 2 most
popular types of all in one equipment, there are
several others out there as will, from brands
such as Weider and many others. Some of these people tell me that, as children, a parent, teacher or someone else told them that they should just mouth the words because they didn’t have a good enough voice.

Singing is our birthright! Singing is a natural and pure expression of how glad we feel to be alive, and the way we show our love of music. Here are my top five reasons to sing:

1. To connect with your body: We sing with our whole bodies. Because singing is so connected to closely with breath, singing helps us “be in our bodies” and let go of the thinking (or worrying) we do much of the day. Singing can be a joyful activity and can release endorphins (those feel-good chemicals that the body creates).

2. To connect with yourself: Meditative toning, singing along to a favourite song or simply humming to yourself are all ways to tap into your inner landscape and see what’s going on in there.

3. To connect with others: Singing with other people - in meditation, prayer, at a sing-along, at a concert, or even over the telephone or Internet - helps us experience in a very deep way that we are all truly connected.

4. To express your feelings: Many times a singer, songwriter or composer has expressed our feelings in a way we could never have – if there’s a song that expresses what you want or need to say, try singing along (keep in mind that this is just for you and it’s not about “sounding good”).

5. To boost your good feelings: Whatever you focus on, you’ll invite more of into your life. You can choose uplifting, joyful and celebratory songs to sing.

So sing out! Be proud of your own unique voice. Experiment with what works for you – keep a journal of what you notice in your mind and body when you sing specific songs. Then you can choose the right song for the right moment and make use of the power of singing in your own life.

(c) Copyright 2006, Linda Dessau.

Linda Dessau, MTA, CPCC, is a self-care expert, accredited music therapist and certified life coach. Our home is suppose to be a soft place to land at the end of the day, not a chaotic mess.

But trying to get organized, can feel just as stressful. The best way I found to tackle this, is to make a list of the rooms in your home, and start with the smallest one. This will give you a sense of accomplishment quicker.

In my home the back hallway was always a mess. I invested in a shoe rack, coat hooks for the wall, and a tiny cubicle storage unit for the wall. My hallway is very small, so just a few shoes here and there, the newspaper and keys and backpacks, and you were tripping as soon as you came home. Not a great way to start the evening.

I set up the shoe rack on top of some rubber mats, and instructed the family to use the shoe rack, and to take other pairs of shoes they didn't wear all the time to their own closets in their own room. That way we cut down in half the amount of shoes laying around. I had a small area where I could set up this cubicle storage unit I got from the local discount department store. They consisted of 1 foot wide by 1 foot tall and 1 foot deep white wooden boxes that you could stack, and I was able to purchase colorful baskets that would fit in this boxes. That got rid of the keys, newspapers etc. I then put up hooks on the walls for backpacks and dog leashes.

I purchased a good quality and tough mat that covered the whole floor area of my back hallway for those mucky days, and almost instantly the hallway looked great and I felt better. So, cross that room off the list, and now you will be inspired to start the next one.

Get your family involved, (or not if you think it will just cause more chaos!) but at least instruct them on the rule of "a place for everything and that does not mean the floor!"

http://www.organizeyourlife.weebly.com click here for more amazing ideas and tips to make your home a clutter free zone, and feel more organized. It's a natural choice used for thousands of years. There are a lot of aspects of music that can cause this relaxation.

Making music is one way that it can help. Anything we do that is creative in nature will help. If you don't play an instrument or sing, perhaps you can draw or paint. Even cooking can give the creative release we need to keep our minds and emotions in order.

As I mentioned, we use lullabies for our children. Think back to the songs you chose to soothe a cranky baby or comfort a child after a bad dream. Most of them are slow and calming to the ears and more than just children respond to them. Adults and animals do, also.

When listening for relief, it's best to spend a little time getting things set up. Low lights, a soothing cup of tea and a nice recliner can add to the benefits and make it a special moment. It's even better if you can share it with your partner, a nice ending to a stressful day.

I've discovered something about "musak" as well. When I'm on hold, the music chosen for my listening pleasure has a big effect on how I feel when I finally get a human. If it's loud, strident and/or discordant, I'm not going to be in a good mood. If it's quiet and soothing, even if I'm calling to complain about something, it's easier to handle the conversation without lashing out. My favorite hold music, however, is none.

There are a lot of things we can use music for. Armies use it to help set the pace of the march. Rowers use it to help set the rhythm for the boat and composers use it to help enhance scenes for movies and television shows. I remember a young family member looking at his mother and saying, "I don't want to go in there, I hear danger music." He was three at the time, and already able to tell what that music was for.

As I mentioned in the description, music has another power, a negative one. Think about tribal war chants. We might not like the sound, but it fits the description. Many other types of music can also increase negative emotions. That is something to keep in mind when you are selecting what you want to listen to.

There is one animal I am not sure can be soothed by music. Our cat is very vocal and whenever we sing or play an instrument he is right there and very loud. Either he's trying to sing with us or he hates the sound. I think it's the latter, as he bites if we don't stop.

My eBook Home Remedies for Stress has much more information about stress and stress management. Lang

It is important that we become aware of the signs of an over stressed life. When we are overstressed and do not know how to release stress properly, we tend to look for quick fixes. We turn to alcohol, smoking or other recreational drug use. These chemicals provide us with instant relief.

There are other people that turn to food or turn away from food. Some people even go as far as become sleep deprived, they miss doctor and dentist appointments all to meet the demands placed on them and "cope" with the stress associated with their life.

Being overly stressed is simply not good for our health. What is worse is turning to unhealthy quick fixes that allow us to feel better quickly, but only until the "drug" wears off. It is important then that we each learn how to release stress and release stress in a healthy manner. First we will address why releasing stress is important.

There are many health problems that are caused by and aggravated by stress:

o Heart disease
o Pain
o Sleep Problems
o Stomach Problems
o Obesity
o Depression
o Fatigue
o Skin Problems
o Fibromyalgia
o Cancer
o Lupus
o High Blood Pressure

This list is by no means exhaustive, but it is a fair representation of the overall physical and emotional health problems stress causes.

As you can see, finding ways to release stress is important if you want to maintain your good overall health. To help decrease your risk of developing these health issues due to the amount of stress you have, here are a few tips on how to release stress from your life.

Tip One: Dance Like There's No Tomorrow
This doesn't mean go to a club, hang out with friends and consume a few adult beverages. This means go home, pop in your favorite CD or turn on your favorite iTunes playlists and dance around your house. There is some music that it is just impossible to feel stressed when it is played. For you this could be Yanni, Keith Urban, Bob Seger, Journey... whoever it is, turn them on and dance away the stress.

Tip Two: Laugh
There are times when the stress is so intense and then you have one more thing go wrong... and all you can do is laugh. Instead of crying or screaming, laugh at what is going on. Really, and as you start to laugh think about the irony of the situation, there is humor in most things in life you just have to find it.

Tip Three: Exercise
Sometimes the only way to get it all out and feel better is to work it all out. Hit a punching bag, run a mile or two working the body is a great way to release stress.

There are other tips that you can learn on how to release stress. Using visualization to deal with stress is not only effective it is a fun way to spend thirty minutes a day.

By following some simple tips you can become a master at visualization in no time. The best part is visualization is not only good for stress relief, it can be used to master a sport, prepare yourself for that job interview, build self confidence and many other things. Practice these tips until you can do them at will. In order for visualization to be effective you need to get to a point where you can turn it off and on like a switch. The only way to reach this point is through practice and determination. Everyone is different, so do not get discouraged if it seems like you are taking a long time to get the hang of it. Stick with it, it will come, you will be glad you did. Before you start it is imperative you have two things available.

1. A quiet secluded place where you can be for thirty minutes a day.

2. A soothing sound that can be played in a thirty minute loop. Make sure it is sound without vocals.

Some ideas for the type of sounds would be a soothing ambient background sound, a light rain or thunder storm or baroque music.

These are just examples, everyone is different so find whatever calms you and play it in a looping low volume in the background.

Visualization works best when you are able to watch yourself performing the task. You want to train yourself to watch as if you are floating above and watching a movie that you are directing. Anything that you can visualize you can do.

Remember to practice, each time you do this the easier it will become.

Turn on your relaxing sounds and lay down in a quiet place. You want to spend your first ten minutes releasing tension. I recommend you use this technique. First memorize these ten points.

Point 1 - Left ear

Point 2 - Right ear

Point 3 - Forehead

Point 4 - Right arm

Point 5 - Left arm

Point 6 - Chest & heart

Point 7 - Left leg

Point 8 - Right leg

Point 9 - Right foot

Point 10 - Left foot

Following in order from point 1 to point 10 spend 1 minute on each area. Tense up the area for ten seconds and then release for ten seconds. Do this 3 times each point for a total of one minute. You can tense the ear area by biting down on that side and feel the tension build in your ear. For your forehead you can crinkle up your skin. The point is to create tension then release. At the end of ten minutes you will be pretty relaxed. This step is very important. The reason it is important, is you need to completely eliminate any distractions so that you can concentrate on visualization.

Now you should be ready to start your visualization movie. You are going to direct a movie in your head and watch it with yours minds eye. You will be the star of this movie. Here is an example of a type of relaxing movie to direct: " You are getting out of your car and you feel the warmth of the suns rays hit your skin. You feel a slight breeze and can smell the salt in the air. You are of course at the beach. You look down towards the beach and you hear the seagulls chirping above. You look up and watch them for a second and then look back ahead at the waves rolling in. As you walk up to the perfect area you have found right next to a palm tree that provides just the right amount of shade, you step down and feel the beach sand go through your toes. Notice how the sand feels. Immerse yourself in the scene. You take out your blanket and lay down."

Hopefully you get what I mean by directing the scene. Lets say you want to direct a scene for a visualization that you have never experienced before. No problem, I recommend you do a search on google and find a video that will give you the feeling, sounds and visual aids that you need to create your own movie. Watch it over and over till you can picture it in your mind and then recreate it into your own movie your way with you as the main character.

As you do this it will become easier each time. This technique has a accumulative affect.

Good luck and happy visualizing

If you enjoyed this article, Tim is the author of several websites specializing in reviews and helpful tips. When you are feeling stressed out, you actually have a lot of energy contained inside of you that should be released in positive ways. Following are exercises that you can do to help you release your stress in positive ways.

Exercise:
When you are feeling stressed out you should take some time to exercise. Do you have a membership at the gym? You can take an aerobics class, ride on the treadmills, lift weights or even sit in the jacuzzi or the sauna. Many gyms are open 24 hours so you can go in and work off your stress at anytime.

If you do not have a membership at a gym, there are several outdoor exercises that you can do like going for a long walk, running, doing push ups, going for a hike, or swimming. You can also punch a punching bag, jump rope, or play a sport to release your energy.

Taking a break from the stressful scene will work best but if you are not able to leave your location due to being at work or having another obligation, you can release your stressful energy by writing your feelings on paper, drawing or simply taking deep breathes.

When you are stressed out, you have to find something positive to do with your energy. There are many positive ways to release your energy but the most important thing is finding the ways which works best for you and then following through with it.

Antionette Tate enjoys helping people to discover their inner peace and joy. It's really easy to stick one's foot into the mouth, and words can't be unsaid. There is no eraser for comments. Here are a few things to consider the next time you are faced with a difficult situation.

"I'm here for you." That is often the best thing you can say, particularly in a situation where there is nothing you can do. You can also mention that you are praying for the person/situation to be resolved in a positive manner. Knowing you aren't suffering alone makes a big difference.

Show You're Really Listening: Every once in a while, repeat back something the other person has said. This lets them know you're paying attention and giving appropriate attention to what they are saying. Sometimes that can lead to suggestions that could improve matters, though tread very carefully there. That can be construed in a very negative way in certain situations.

Sincere Compliments: Even if you aren't discussing the stressing problem, a sincere compliment will brighten up the day. It has to be something you really feel is great about the stressed person, they will recognize if it isn't.

Smile: This is useful even if you don't know the person involved. I remember an incident from my childhood. I was peeved about something and more or less storming down the sidewalk. A car pulled out and a little boy in the back seat caught my eyes and smiled at me. It changed my mood on sight, and I have never found out who he was.

Tell the Truth: You don't necessarily have to tell them everything you know, but what you do tell them has to be truthful. Even one little white lie can add stress as well as ruin your relationship. As an example, let's say that you have knowledge about some serious medical conditions and someone you know mentions they have the problem. You probably don't want to tell them everything you know about what's going on. However, when they mention this or that procedure that you are familiar with, you can comment that the treatment sounds appropriate.

What we say has an impact on the people that hear the words. That impact can be positive or negative, and the choice is ours. It's extremely important that we think before we speak, because that old rhyme about sticks and stones isn't true. Words really can hurt you.

See my website: http://www.alternative-herbal-remedies.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Mary_Bodel

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/5922432

Tips To Release Stress In Minutes

By Nayanna Chakrbarty

Getting yourself to relax and unwind during a hectic day at work or in a high pressure job is sometimes impossible. Here are some easy tips that will distract you for a while and reduce the pressure on your heart rate and blood vessels.

1) Breathing Techniques: This helps to relieve stress. Simple breathing in and out at a controlled pace brings about a remarkable change.

2) Acupressure Tools: The traditional Chinese acupressure balls work on certain points in the body and releases stress. They are available in various shapes and sizes and easy to carry.

3) Day Dreaming: This surely sounds bizarre. But if you sit for few minutes and transport your mind to a beautiful picturesque location in your mind then it will give you instant relaxation. Few minutes, in the sun and sand, drinking juices with fresh fruits and umbrellas in them will bring you joy with ease.

4) New Trends: Watching a movie trailer or going through latest in fashion trends, mobile phones and gizmos bring about a change in your mind for few minutes and can get you excited. It brings eagerness and something to look forward to. Maybe you would like to make plans to watch the movie or go to the shop and see the demo of the new gadgets.

5) Solitary Confinement: This may sound very drastic but actually few minutes if you can be alone, away from ringing phones and constant discussions with colleagues, you will feel at peace. Take a walk down the stairs to the lobby, or find a corner table at the cafeteria and enjoy the solitude. It refreshes you and helps you to tune into your inner self.

6) Harmony In Food: When the mind is distressed, people tend to eat the wrong foods and disturb the mental equilibrium. They drink too much coffee, sugar and carbohydrate based foods resulting in disturbance in the body's ability to regulate energy. Instead, one should enjoy fresh fruits, whole grain foods and low fat dairy products. These harmonize the body clock and the mind is also given a chance to relax without triggering mood swings.

Capturing the hearts and minds of every reader with sublime imagination is Nayanna Chakrbarty's specialty. You see pure bliss on a child's face when given a new coloring book and especially a new box of crayons. Did you ever notice that one of the first things a child does with her crayons is to smell them? Their smell is invigorating and tantalizing

Applying color to the black and white pages of a coloring book, is creative, fun, relaxing and you get to create something to be proud of.

Unfortunately as adults, we tend to put our crayons aside for more grown up endeavors. As we mature we put away our artistic aspirations and replace them with more worthwhile activities.

I must admit that personally I bought into this concept hook, line and sinker. When my two older daughters were small, I colored with them, and enjoyed doing it. I never realized the calming effect it had on both the girls and me.

My older daughter continued to draw; she especially drew mandalas and other geometric types of pictures. I was proud of her endeavors for they were truly beautiful. Years passed and any thought of coloring was far from my mind, then after my third daughter was born, coloring resurfaced. I was still too deeply entrenched in the line between childhood and adulthood that I resisted the draw of the crayons.

My daughter is developmentally delayed and autistic, which is very sad, yet at the same time there are many joys. She loves coloring, even as a teenager she has a very large box of coloring books of many types. She loves crayons, especially the new scented crayons; these are crayons that leave behind a scent after you color with them. They have some really good scents such as roses and linen, but most of them smell, well yucky, to me. They have scents such as dirty sneakers, wet dog, and other unusual scents.

I have to admit to ridiculing her for wanting such childish things; I wanted her to be normal. What I didn't realize is that her fondness for coloring and crayons is very normal. It just isn't what most teenage girls spend their time doing.

Finally I saw the light and recognized the almost instant calming and relaxing effect that drawing had on her. It was a fantastic mood-altering, anger reducing experience. At long last, I shut up about telling her to grow up.

I joined her in coloring, using the time to tune into her instead of against her. I found that I enjoyed coloring once again. It did its work on me also. Along with bonding with my child, I also relaxed and enjoyed the calming effect that coloring had on me.

I then did research on the values of coloring for an adult. I found that my kids were right. Coloring is indeed a stress buster. It breaks the circuit of our over-loaded brains filled with never-ending thoughts. I found out that coloring quiets your mind as you focus on your masterpiece.

I also found out that there are no rules when it comes to coloring, color outside the lines; it is surprising a way of breaking the rules, and it feels so good. There are no coloring police to arrest you for breaking the color inside the lines rule. Nor do you have to follow the instructions and use the suggested colors. It is a release that is outstanding.

There are coloring books of every type available for a low price, plus there are pages on the web that you download for free. There are wonderful stained glass types of coloring books that you use colored pencils to color and then put the picture on a window facing the sun and the effect is truly fantastic. Every time you look at it you will re-capture the pleasure you had in creating your masterpiece.

In conclusion get yourself some crayons, colored pencils, markers or paint and allow your self the freedom and stress reducing pleasure of coloring. It is good for you!

Patricia M. It is Gratitude, you have it with you all the time wherever you go; all you have to do is remember to be thankful for everything. You can always find something to be grateful for, even if you only have the ability within you to be grateful that you are grateful.

Once you shift your emotions into gratitude your mind, body and spirit shift into more joy and you feel better. The more you practice it, the better you feel; and those things that seemed to be stressing you out diminish and you can get a better feeling to deal with them.

Stress is everywhere in our life, it is what we do with it that either makes us feel worse or in a better balanced state. Gratitude balances the stress out and it can happen almost immediately when practiced on a regular basis.

Gratitude is sort of like a canvas where our life is artistically drawn, it is not only a practice that is of great virtue, but it is the beginning of all the other virtues we want in our life. It can turn any negative into a positive, and the best part it can happen really fast.

If you are one of the people who practice gratitude more frequently you will tend to be happier, more forgiving and less depressed than someone who doesn't. We see people who always seem to be happier than we are; do you think it is because they don't have any stress in their life, absolutely not, it just means they are grateful for the areas of their life that aren't stressful.. That in turn makes their life automatically more joyful.

One of the ways to start practicing gratitude is to start a gratitude journal and make a list of all the things you are grateful for. Add to the journal every day and carry it with you so that when something catches you off guard you can refer to your grateful journal. You can also carry grateful stones or have them by your desk at work or in the car; then just hold them and/or rub them when stressful feelings come up.

It is important to keep your stress levels down as it has been proven in many studies that practicing gratitude benefits your personal health, your overall happiness, aids in a faster recovery of many operations, aids in a faster healing of many diseases and improves relationships at work and at home.

Want to increase your wealth and abundance, it has been know that there is a connection between wealth and gratitude, many wealth experts suggest that if you want to increase your wealth, you should focus on being more grateful. These two areas work hand and hand to manifesting wealth and abundance into your life. So remember, you have this ability with you everywhere, always; start practice gratitude and make your life more abundant in every way.

Darlene has researched, practiced and implemented many spiritual and personal growth paths: Crystal Readings for Vibrant Living; Feng Shui for personal tranquility; Sacred Movements for a disciplined life; Gentle Touch Energy Healer; Whole and organic food advocate-Food as Medicine; Artist of hand woven and beaded amulet basket necklaces. Its is good to help others in time of need. Not too many people like to help others that are why there is much demand in the nursing field today. This is why there are high demands over the world. People are to there self and don’t care about there neighbor. However, there are many ways that you can help people without them being a burden on you. I will give you a few ideas to get your bran rambling, since helping others is very rewarding.

What are some ways I can work with people?
Many options are available for helping other people. It depends on what you like to do.
Perhaps you would enjoy working with troubled children. This may be a way that you can enjoy living. You can call centers that specialize in helping troubled kids to see if volunteers are needed. Perhaps you can join schools that specialize in helping troubled children. You will also find hospitals that have high demands for people to help them deal with troubled children. Hospitals are available also that request volunteers to visit the elderly. Imaging how a person would feel if you come to visit and this person has no visitors at all. You can also find employment for nurses aides if you qualify. Doctors are always searching for new receptionists.

How will working with people help me to improve my life?
When you work with others, helping them in life you improve your own life. You will feel better about you. You will feel like a new person. Helping others is a reward. You will notice that you feel healthier each time you help someone else.

How do I develop qualities to help other people?
Helping others takes little skills. You will find qualities inside you that help you develop skills. For instance, we all have the ability to use self-awareness, or observational tools to observe others. When you take the time to study other people you will see their needs and wants. When you start to see their needs and wants you can move to help them. For instance, if you notice someone struggling to carry grocery bags to their car, you are observing a person in need. Why not give them a hand.

You can also help elderly people up stairs, in stores, or help them with their grocery shopping. Elderly people may have a problem reaching high on the shelves. If you are passing by, why not lend a hand. The hand you lend will come back and bite you in your time of need. In other words, someday someone will help you too when you start to grow older.

Helping others can include giving an ear. Many people struggle in life searching for answers to his or her problems. Perhaps if you lend an ear you may be able to help them find answers. In addition, you may find answers to your own problems. Many times answers are in front of us, yet we fail to see them too often. When you help others, those answers come to light.

In life, we all have to be willing to take risks. No, you are not going to play in a major highway, challenging your maker. Rather taking risks means trying new things in life. One of those new things in life involves helping others.

Now that you have an idea how to help others why not uproot your trunk and head out the door to find someone to help.
